Who we are

Where every single person with Type One is Type None

Sweet Souls Society is a registered, community-driven non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth and adults living with Type 1 Diabetes. We work through education, awareness programmes, emotional counselling, advocacy, and access to essential diabetes supplies.

More about us

It is not a lifestyle disease

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune condition where the pancreas stops producing insulin. It is not preventable, it has no cure, and insulin is the only treatment.

What a day actually looks like

4–5 insulin injections. 5+ finger-prick glucose checks. Night-time monitoring, even at 2:00 AM. Constant calculations around food, activity and stress.

What we do

Four ways we stand with families

Together, we work so that no child fights this journey alone.

Education & Empowerment

Weekly virtual meetings and support circles, expert webinars, workshops and training sessions.

Access to Care

Collaboration with hospitals and government programmes, and support for insulin, glucometers and essential supplies.

Advocacy

Policy discussions with government departments, awareness campaigns, marathons and public outreach.

Community Building

Camps, meetups and family counselling, plus special initiatives including diabetes matrimony support.

India — a growing crisis

Over 1 million people in India live with Type 1 Diabetes

Numbers are rising at roughly 6.7% every year. Surviving costs a family ₹7,000–₹10,000 a month for insulin and supplies — unaffordable for many. Between 60% and 70% of families struggle to access consistent treatment, leading to complications and avoidable loss of life.

Type 1 Diabetes is often invisible. Children are denied school admissions, adults face workplace discrimination, and families carry stigma, financial burden and emotional stress every single day.

Our story

It began with one teenager who refused to be defined by her diagnosis

In 2014, Dishana Kidambi — then a teenager living with Type 1 Diabetes — chose to turn her journey into something larger than herself. With her parents Nalini and Ramesh Kidambi, she founded Sweet Souls Society so that no one would feel alone, fearful or misunderstood.

What began with 10 members has grown into a network of more than 1,500 families.
