Education & Empowerment
Knowledge is what turns a frightening diagnosis into a manageable routine. We run continuous education for people with T1D, their parents and their caregivers.
- Weekly virtual meetings and peer support circles
- Expert webinars with endocrinologists and diabetes educators
- Workshops and training sessions for families and caregivers
- School awareness sessions, online and in person, run with ISPAE
Who teaches
Our educators are ISPAE-certified and, in most cases, are living with Type 1 Diabetes themselves or parenting a child who is. That lived experience is the difference between information and genuinely useful guidance.
Our Vice President, General Secretary and Treasurer are all certified diabetes educators.
What a person with T1D needs every month
- Analogue insulin — basal and rapid-acting
- 180 glucose test strips
- 30 insulin pen needles
- 30 glucometer lancets
This is the monthly supply package we ask state governments to provide free of cost.
Access to Care
Insulin is not optional and it is not affordable for everyone. We work to close the gap between what a family needs and what they can actually get.
- Collaboration with hospitals and government programmes
- Support for insulin, glucometers and essential supplies
- Guidance on where free or subsidised supplies are available in your district
- Connecting families to endocrinologists and diabetes educators
Advocacy
Individual charity cannot solve a problem this size. Lasting change comes from policy — dedicated clinics, free supplies, and official recognition of Type 1 Diabetes.
- Policy submissions to state health departments and NHM
- Campaigning for dedicated Type 1 Diabetes clinics with an endocrinologist, educator and dietician
- Demanding a government-issued T1D identity card
- Awareness campaigns, marathons and public outreach events
States that already have T1D clinics
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and West Bengal have established Type 1 Diabetes clinics providing essential supplies and treatment.
In Telangana, free analogue insulin is available at Gandhi Hospital and Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad, Warangal MGM Hospital and Nizamabad Government Hospital. We are working to bring the same to every district we serve.
More than medical support
A diagnosis reshapes a whole family. Alongside clinical guidance we run family counselling, and community initiatives that address the parts of life people rarely talk about — including diabetes matrimony support for adults with T1D.
Because living well with Type 1 Diabetes is about far more than blood glucose.
Community Building
Isolation makes Type 1 Diabetes harder to manage and much harder to bear. Our strongest work is simply bringing people together.
- Camps, meetups and regional family gatherings
- Family counselling and one-to-one peer mentoring
- Marathons, treks and shared challenges
- Special initiatives including diabetes matrimony support
